MG Hector new variants launched: Top five things to know – Times of India


MG Motor India has introduced two new variants to the Hector line-up. Two new variants are Shine Pro and Select Pro which replace the Shine and Smart respectively. The Shine Pro variant is priced at Rs 16 lakh, whereas the Select Pro variant costs Rs. 17.3 lakh (both prices ex-showroom). In this article, let’s take a look at the top five things you need to know about new variants of the MG Hector.

1. Reduced pricing

As mentioned previously, the price for the Shine Pro and Select Pro starts from Rs 16 lakh and 17.3 lakh, respectively (both prices Ex-showroom). Another exciting news is that the starting price of the Hector is now Rs 14 lakh which is Rs 95,000 less than before. Also, this is the second time Hector has received the price cut in the last six months.

2. Digital screens

Previously, top-spec variants of the Hector featured a 14-inch portrait touchscreen infotainment system and a fully digital 7-inch instrument cluster. But now, the new Shine and Select Pro variants equipped with the same. The infotainment system gets wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, navigation, 6-speaker sound system, Bluetooth connectivity and much more.

3. Features list

Two new variants come loaded with features. The Shine Pro gets headlamps with DRLs, sequential turn signals, front and rear fog lights, 17-inch alloy wheels, wireless charger, push-button start, cruise control, single-pane electric sunroof, digital Bluetooth key and key-sharing capability.


The Select Pro variant additionally features a dual-pane panoramic sunroof, larger 18-inch alloy wheels, interior reading lights, connected car tech and an 8-speaker sound system with woofer and amplifier. In terms of safety, both variants come with electric Parking Brake, All four-wheel disc brakes, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (TCS), Hill Hold Control (HAC), ABS + EBD, Brake Assist, All Seats Seatbelt Reminder, Follow Me Home Headlamps, Cornering Front Fog Lamps, Front & Rear Defogger, Speed Sensing Auto Door Lock, ISOFIX Child Seat Anchors and High-Speed Warning Alert.

4. MG Shield

The company is also offering ‘MG Shield’ after-sales service options. Customers will be offered with standard ‘3+3+3 package’, which includes a warranty of three years with unlimited kilometres, three years of roadside assistance, and three labour-free periodic services. Additionally, customers will have customised options to extend their warranty or RSA or opt for the Protect plans which are the company’s pre-paid maintenance packages.

5. Powertrain

Talking about the powertrain and gearbox, both variants will be offered with two engine options – 143 hp, 1.5-litre turbo petrol engine paired with 6-speed mangle or a CVT automatic. Another engine is the 170 hp, 2.0-litre multi-jet turbo diesel that comes paired only with a 6-speed manual gearbox.
